Hi Im David. does the engine crank? or does it do nothing?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
hi david the engine cranks over but wont start yesterday I tried about 8 times then it started and today it wont start just cranks over...
Expert:  david craig replied 2 months ago.

the starter is probably drawing to many amps. do you have a multimeter?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
that's what ive been thinking it is the starter motor is only 12 months old no I don't have a multimeter i think my friend has one ...what should the amps be?
Expert:  david craig replied 2 months ago.

well you wont be checking amps. put the meter on the battery terminal and select dc volts. should read 12.5. watch the meter as someone cranks the car and make sure it doesnt drop below 9.8 volts

ok thanks david if its not that problem could it be a fuel problem somewhere ?
Expert:  david craig replied 2 months ago.

absolutley. when you are sitting in the jeep. turn the key to the on position, you should be able to hear the fuel pump running for a few seconds. let me know. thanks

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
ok I turned it on and can here the fuel pump is working ....
Expert:  david craig replied 2 months ago.

have you checked the voltages at the battery statically and while cranking?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
my mate checked voltage is all good .... so we thought maybe a fuel problem we are thinking it could be the fuel rail what do you think ? I now its hard not looking at the car
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I will be replacing the battery this week then go from there ....
Expert:  david craig replied 2 months ago.

do a fuel pressure test at the rail. also if you have a noid light, check to make sure the injectors are getting a pulse to fire.
