SRT8 6.1 Auto trans making buzzing sound.

SRT8 6.1 Auto trans making buzzing sound.

Seems to be slipping when in reverse more than in drive.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

A buzzing sound along with slippage usually indicates a restricted filter. If the filter becomes restricted it will cause line pressure to drop and cause slipping or it will disengage altogether, the buzzing noise is most likely the pump.

Has the fluid level been checked?
Do you know how long it has been since the filter was last replaced?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
The car only has 30,000 KM on it. No the filter has never been replaced. ( The motor is fitted with a Procharger )

No dip stick. I'll start by checking the ATF level.
Expert:  sprinkles08 replied 1 month ago.

A scan tool and dipstick would be needed to check the fluid level.

If the fluid level is good then I would next recommend removing the pan to check for excessive debris, water, and replace the filter/fluid if nothing is found that would condemn the trans mechanically.
