This would either mean fuel level sender in tank or gauge itself has failed, most common problem is the sender in tank. During problem Check the fuel level sender voltage with a multi meter. The sender wires are Purple, pin 69 and Black, pin 35 of the clear PCM connector. The voltage should be steady, approximately 1-2v depending on fuel level. If voltage is steady problem is gauge assembly, if erratic then problem is fuel level sender. Let me know if you have more questions or if there is anything else I can do to help. Thanks.
