Hi William,

Have you checked your fluid levels recently?

Can you describe the noise a little more?

Rattle, knock, squeal, howl etc?

Gary

It's a loud roaring / howling sound

I'd say about 300-500ml if it is halfway on the stick.

Would you hear the noise across the road, as a neighbour might?

How many kms on the engine?

Gary

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Ya it's a loud Enough noise . It only seems to happen when the car is cold . There's 180000ks it's regularly serviced
Expert:  Gary replied 8 months ago.

Can you top up the oil when you get a chance?

If it is not an accessory drive belt squeal, then it could be a bearing knock in the engine before oil pressure develops.

Or does it sound like a fan going flat out?

I'll top up the engine oil . Is it safe enough to drive
Expert:  Gary replied 8 months ago.

Hi William,

How long has this noise been happening?

Is it safe to drive? A bit hard to say until we can determine the sound.

Does it drive normally other than the noise at startup?
