Hi there,

There is no choke mechanism.

The idle speed is ECM controlled, by moving a pintle valve in the IAC valve mounted on the throttle body.

Does the engine light ever stay on after you start the engine, or while driving?

Hi Rodeo , i'm Stew , i'm a mechanic here in australia , the 02 rodeo does not have a choke as such but still provides an enrichment for cold start/cold motor via the engine management , to do this the system is very sensitive to engine temperature , if your thermostat is stuck/stuck open the motor will run too cool (only needs to be 20 deg or so wrong ) , the system delivers too much fuel (behaves like the choke is on , heavy on fuel , hard to start hot are clues ) to temp problem , thanks stew
