My Mazda 97,,121G,won't start,, be sitting for about a year,, it did start before only when you put fuel though the air cleaner,, but only till fuel vaporize..??

Hi .

So the car was sat for about a year and now will not start only when fuel is poured down the carburetor.

Then this sounds like you have a clogged up Carburetor or a bad fuel pump. .

Okay first disconnect the feed pipe to the carb and put into a glass jam jar and then crank the engine over and see if fuel pumps out

making sure the fuel if any goes into the jam jar.

If fuel comes out check condition of fuel .

Now if no fuel check tank for fuel and check the operation of the fuel pump.

If fuel is being pump remove and clean out carburetor using a O/H kit .

We do know that you only have a fuel delivery issue as car does start when fuel is poured

into the carb when cranking so the ignition side is good .

Oh Check the inline filter on the feed pipe just before the carburetor ...
