Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

I believe it's the key fob you're referring to if you replaced the battery it the item that is not working. The immobilizer system is what validates a transponder in the key to allow the engine to start.

If the key fob is not working it could be a keyless entry module issue but it's more likely to be the fob itself. If the battery has been replaced and it still isn't working then the next step will be to use a key fob tester to see if it is transmitting when pressing buttons. If not then it will need to be replaced.
