2010 model grantruismo. My temperature gauge while driving

Customer Question

2010 model grantruismo. My temperature gauge while driving started to climb up all of a sudden. I then noticed while stationary at a set of lights steam coming up from the left hand side of my car. The temperature then went into the red zone. I pulled over and opened the bonnet and notice that no coolent was in the radiator reservoir.
I live 200km from the closest Maserati service centre. What should I do?

Hi Dean,

If the car is still under any form of warranty, then the warranty should cover your tow cost to the nearest dealer.

If not, then at least let it cool down gradually, add some water to the coolant reservoir higher than max, leave the bonnet up, start the engine and see if your can locate the leak by eye.

I would then have it towed to the nearest repairer to where you are now.

Hopefully the engine has not suffered any damage.

Hope this helps.

Should I have it taken to a dealership or would a local mechanic be ok?

I live in Newcastle so my closest dealer is Sydney

Hi Dean,

It may be something simple that a local guy can do a repair to get you going, and may save you an expensive tow fee.

Do you have a mechanical workshop near you, that may be able to look at it tomorrow?

A cooling system has many places to fail from, it could be an easy fix, even temperary to get you going, or could be fairly major.
