Hi Robert,

I have yet to hear of this in a VE.

Do you have a standard or aftermarket short shifter?

What does it do driving when you select 5th or 6th, noisy etc?

2006 SS, standard shifter, when I select 5th or 6th it does NOT engage ie. engine revs as in neutral...

Hello Gary,I should add I can still select 1,2,3,4 & Rev no problem, question is should I still be driving the vehicle....Also not sure what happens next here...
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

Hi Robert,

I would say it has a fractured 5th/6th shift fork.

Unlikely to be 5th/6th synchro hub, or anything else for that matter.

You need to get to a transmission shop asap.

is that based on the last info I sent re the gear selection, what are the implications of still driving until can be repaired....is this something you have heard of regarding earlier VE models..

Hello Gary, appreciate if you could respond to my last 2 questions...

Hi Robert,

I have only read about this today on the net.

I have not seen this myself personally.

It does seem to be a worldwide T56 6 speed thing. Wear and tear, and maybe some hard use.

I've been a mechanic since VB came out, old fart now.

Hi Robert,

I not would drive it until you get it looked at.

It will be a trans out for rebuild.
