Are you having trouble releasing the handbrake lever, or is the handbrake stuck on at one of the rear wheels?
If the vehicle has been parked on a steep hill and the handbrake has been pulled on harder than normal, you need to pull up a little harder first while depressing the release button. It should then release. If it still won't release, then the release cable adjustment is out. The release handle top cover can be split off, (it is glued on) and the cable end can then be readjusted for less slack.
Can you tell me why you aren't happy?
I have worked for Holden for near 35 years, I'm a Gold Certified Technician, and I know Commodore 1978-2015 backwards.
The handbrake in VE is known for not staying set after activation where the ratchet fails, but that is not what you have asked for.
I have seen what you have described many times, replaced many handbrake assemblies and adjusted as I have mentioned above.
Either you have trouble deciphering my explanation, or some other abnormality has occurred.
I will submit your claim for a refund, and let the company moderators decide.
I have sent the question to the moderators, from which they closed the question.
Now somehow it has been reopened.
Did you get your handbrake to release?
