I am now told that the idle motor broke at the same time the timing belt broke.
The car has no response , sounds like hole in the exhaust.
Mechanic has checked compression and pulled off intake manifold and exhaust manifold and re fitted.

HI,

I am sorry that you have not been helped yet. I just came online and saw your question

By idle motor, do you mean the idle air control(IAC) motor.

I also need to know what year Rio yours is and what is the fault code number that is tripping the check engine light - it will be a 4 digit code preceded by the letter P - example - P0505
