My 2000 C240 automatic will not shift from Park. There is movement in the stick but feels jammed and will not go any further.

Hi there,
Like most Automatic cars these days, yours will have a shiftlock solenoid.
With just ignition on, put your hand on the gearshift and listen at the same time, now apply the brake pedal.
Do you hear/feel a sound/click under the shifter trim?
Can you check that your brakelights are working?
