2003 nissan: i blow compressed air..well run fine..hooked..fault codes

i have a 2003 nissan patrol wich has a problem me and a few fitters and auto sparkys cant work out it is a deisle it well run smooth as for 20 mins and then start surging and spluttering if i blow compressed air back down the line from the filter and then prime it up it well run fine for another 20min we ran a clear hose from pick up to filter and there is bubbles in it i also replaced the th fuel pic up but cant seem to work out were the air is coming from please help me we have also hooked it up to computer and there is no fault codes we have  ran a hose from a bucket of fuel to engine and it runs well my car has been in the workshop for 3 weeks now and they still have no answers
