electrics..engine replaced fuel filter,can put gas..spark plugs

engine wont start electrics ok no gasgetting to engine replaced fuel filter,can put gas in through spark plugs and it will run for a short time then starves and stops

Already Tried:
checked out electrics and they were fine, replaced inline filter wouldn't start, took spark plugs out and put fuel in, started for a short time then stopped

Donot need an answer as problem has been fixed by an a grade mechanic, problem was a faulty fuel pump.
