1994 GLI wagon/automatic. Intermittent trouble starting the car...has full battery power. Mechanics replaced the neutral start switch and the ignition switch. Problem persists.

this can be a common problem in this model, It is often the BEM body electrics module that is the cause
under the steering column on the passenger side under the dash the BEM is fitted and can often cause this starting problem
Best way to check this is to hold the key to crank when it is being a problem and then give a solid thump on the plastic panel under the dash on the passenger side of the column. This will often shock the module and the contacts will work. This is not a fix but a way to determine if this is the problem in your case. If it starts then consider replacing the BEM or bypassing the crank circuit
