g/day guys
could any one tell me why the 1993 NISSAN PULSAR GTI-R got stuck in gear and how hard it would be to fix please , car was in 1st gear and an atempt was made to put it in reverse while it was rolling forwards
also what would the cost, there's about, to get it fixed

Hi Dave,
The seizure will either be in the cable shift mechanism, in which case it won't be horribly expensive to sort out, or internal to the gearbox (expensive).
You can check for shifter seizure by having someone attempt to change gear, with another person watching what happens at the lever(s) at the transmission. If the cable mechanism looks like it's fighting the levers on the 'box, fault is internal to the box.
Expect a few hundred + parts to sort the cable mechanism. Expect (at a rough guess) a couple of thousand to rebuild the gearbox.
A bit of advice regarding purchase. Make sure the car has had regular, professional servicing. If it's been thrashed & abused, it has the potential to cost you big money. The same goes for all older performance cars..
