The trunk will open and close automatically. It wont latch?

Customer Question

The trunk will open and close automatically. It wont latch ?
JA: What exactly is happening to the trunk?
Customer: sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't latch. You can hear the motor latch whe it works. other times it won't make noise or latch properly and it won't lock.
JA: What is the model/year of your Audi?
Customer: 2005 A8
JA: Are you fixing your A8 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: nothing and I would like to repair it myself. It is in perfect condition with less than 60,000 miles.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Yes, Ihave CD's stuck in the changer?

Quite often the latch motor weak or the striker out of adjustment is to blame. Do you have experience working on this kind of stuff?
