JA: What is the model/year of your Audi?
Customer: 2002 quatro
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes i have removed the seat
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?

I have located some info on how to remove the back rest trim on this model here.If this does not comply with your models info let me know.

1 - Backrest
2 - Bolts (4x)
3 - Backrest shell
- Move seat fully up.
- Remove seat.
- Remove mounting trim pieces.
- Remove side airbag unit.
- Remove backrest upholstery.
- Remove spring cover.
- Unbolt bolts -2- (4x) at sides of backrest shell -3-.
- Place seat so that backrest shell -3- is accessible from below.
- Push both clips -4- on bottom of backrest shell -3- slightly toward each other.
- Detach backrest shell from seat -3- from below.
- Remove backrest shell -3- upward.
- Attach backrest shell -3- at upper part of backrest -1-.
- Push backrest shell -3- down until clips -4- engage.
- Tighten bolts -2- (4x).
4 - Clips (2x)
