This answer was rated:

1999 Audi A8 drivers airbag deployed. I replaced airbag and went into Airbag controller to erase codes. 2 kept coming back. I went into coding to retrieve the soft coding in case I need to replace module. I did not change anything I just hit do it and now I cant get back into controller. Is there another way into this to reset it?

AudiDoc :

Hello, I'm Jason. I will do my best to answer your question quickly and accurately using the information you have provided.

AudiDoc :

What are the exact codes that keep coming back?

AudiDoc :

were either of them 65535?

Customer:

No no death code fortunately. It was a crash data stored and passenger side seat on/off sensor

AudiDoc :

One second...phone call

AudiDoc :

ok, so if I remember correctly, crash data faults can't be erased by vag com

AudiDoc :

however, at the same time, I'm not sure that will turn on the light

AudiDoc :

and right now, you can't even connect with address 15 at all?

Customer:

right

AudiDoc :

try unplugging the radio

Customer:

yep, should have started there

00595 - Crash Data Stored

Customer:

when I go to erase it gives me -unexpected gmsg[2]=OA after erase codes request

Customer:

I think we ran into this before

AudiDoc :

Ah, got it. Ok so the crash data needs to get erased by a company who does a lot of these things. I think BBA-Reman does this, but not positive

AudiDoc :

The seat sensor....that part is tougher. It's very possible that it needs a seat pad

AudiDoc :

but with it being an intermittent code, that's not lighting up the airbag light right now

Customer:

yeah it wont let me erase it just goes to that error message

AudiDoc :

yeah, from what I recall, crash data can't be erased by vag-com

Customer:

yeah but it should let me try or it just comes back but that message comes up first so doesnt let me

AudiDoc :

agreed, but I remember the last time I ran into this, I was getting some sort of similar funky error when trying to clear codes

AudiDoc :

but at least you got the soft-code, if you decide to go with a used controller

Customer:

does recoding help?

AudiDoc :

nope

Customer:

Looks like a new module, thanks

AudiDoc :

glad to help as always
