I am looking to buy a used A4 ...2006 105K miles, 2.0T 6 spd manual Quattro

Car had one owner ... very good over all condition. I will get it looked at by my mechanic but was wondering if I should be specific about anything ? Like a new clutch , power train concerns, etc. Not familiar with Audi reliabilty but know they are expensive to fix. Any concerns with this car ? I expect to use it for around town and occational long drive. Like AWD for snow.

AudiDoc :

Hello, I'm Jason. I will do my best to answer your question quickly and accurately using the information you have provided.

AudiDoc :

Biggest concerns right this second, with those miles:
1) has the timing belt/water pump been done
2) any problems with oil consumption?
3) yes, clutch wear can be a concern right now, but hard to determine

AudiDoc :

Other potential concerns: any recent problems with fuel pumps, or check engine lights?

AudiDoc :

Now, if the belt job hasn't been done, expect to spend about $1k at a good independent Audi shop to have it done

AudiDoc :

if there are oil consumption problems, pass on this car. I would even suggest writing a contingency in the purchase contact saying that if oil consumption is greater than 1qt/1000 miles, you can sell the car back

AudiDoc :

If it does need a clutch, expect that to run about $1500 parts and labor

overall though is this a car that can go another 75 to 100K with the right care ? Or does it have a history of issues ? Car fax is clean
With by-the-book maintenance, yes, no problem. I work on a few 06 2.0T FSI cars here with 160k+ on them, and they've been good cars, but the owners are very religious about maintaining. Most important part about longevity is proper oil changes. Proper meaning Audi filters, and 5W40 synthetic oil that conforms to Audi 502.00 specifications. Not all synthetics qualify. Do this every 5k miles, no matter what the maintenance book indicates.
