Hello, Thank You for choosing "Just Answer" for your questions concerning your Audi. Yes, I can help you. Any time the radio looses power, it goes into SAFE mode. This is a theft deterrent. Any time the radio is removed from it's power source, after reconnecting to a power source a security code must be programmed into the unit before it will operate. If you look at your radio booklet (it should be with your owner's manual) it will describe how to program the code into the radio. In the front of the booklet will be a credit card sized card with the 4 digit security code. If this card has been removed and you do not have the code you can either take the vehicle to an Audi dealership where they will get the serial number of your radio and the vehicle I.D. number and plug them into the Audi Factory data base and get your security code.
Or If you remove the radio and retrieve the Radio serial number off or the side (starts in AUZ) then call Audi’s customer assistance to speak with a Audi Customer CARE Advocate. Call 1-800-822-2834 (AUDI), Mon-Fri, 8 am to 8 pm, Eastern Time. If you tell them your Vehicle ID number and the radio serial number they will ask you some questions to verify the vehicle is registered to you and then they should provide you with the code for FREE.
It is illegal for anyone to access the radio code through the Audi data base without verifying the customer, vehicle, and radio serial numbers. If someone were to provide that service for you here online, they would be risking there employment as well as legal ramifications. I hope that I have answered your questions and addressed your concerns. Should you have any further questions for me, please do not hesitate to ask. Positive feedback is always appreciated. If you accept my answer please click on the "ACCEPT" button. Thank You! Jake “The Audi Doctor”
Latest Edit: I just called Audi and they will provide the code within two days so this question should be cancelled.
Have you charged me? Or credited the $21 to my account?
I do not charge or credit anybodies account. I simply answer the questions. I gave you the answer to your question. As I told you "It is illegal for anyone to access the radio code through the Audi data base without verifying the customer, vehicle, and radio serial numbers. If someone were to provide that service for you here online, they would be risking their employment as well as legal ramifications."Your choice is simple, pay an Audi dealer to do it for you, or do as I said and call customer service. As you see Audi will provide you with the code as I stated, so I do not see why you feel this question should be canceled.Jake
OK Jake, no sense canceling the question, but I do not feel like I should pay either. If you want to go to arbitration it's OK with me. I like you am an upright and honest person and want to do what is right for all parties involved. I thought I would be saving time by going to the JustAnswer Audi experts, but no, I wait for Audi corporate. In my opinion JustAnswers and their experts are pushing the envelope when they accept a question which they know will involve either direct dealer or Audi corporate involvement to resolve because of the ownership issues you mentioned. Topics/Subjects like this belong in their JustAnswers FAQ and/or databases and should be provided for questions which tread on those issues. BTW here is where I found the info on contacting Audi directly http://www.audiforums.com/forum/new-member-welcome-area-4/get-your-audi-radio-code-free-180421/ Herb
I have nothing at all to do with billing. That is all between You and JA. I just answer questions. Many answers we give can be sourced other places be it a personal contact or the internet. We don't have knowledge of any "secrets". I did tell you how to get the code as you didn't mention you were trying to get the code faster as you have tried calling Audi. Many people are happy with my answer and are glad to able to get it for free rather than pay the dealer $75. I'm sorry it wasn't what you were looking for. All I can do is answer the questions as they are asked. You bring up a valid point with FAQ. I'll mention it and you could also do the same.
