Hello,Thank You for choosing Just Answer for your query. Yes, I can help you. I suspect what happened is that the engine began to run poorly and “misfire”. A misfire is when the ignition system fails to ignite the fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. When this happens unburned fuel travels through the engine and out the exhaust. The catalytic converter is in the exhaust stream and super heats the exhaust gases to further burn targeted emissions before being exhausted out the tail pipe. When the unburned fuel passes through the catalyst the catalyst is Over fueled and overheats. The “bright orange” you witnessed was likely the catalyst Glowing red (orange) hot. If you bring the vehicle to the garage and they repair the misfire the catalyst will no longer glow. Unfortunately once a catalyst “glows” there is a high likely hood that the catalyst has been overheated and damaged. I hope I have answered your questions and addressed your concerns.
