Hello , Here to answer automotive questions and make you feel comfortable and become familiar with your product
I will recommend you to buy a trickle charger made by Porsche. It is the best one that I have come across and is small, compact and uses quick disconnects.

Relist: Answer quality. From my understanding, when the R8's engine is turned off , the cigaret socket will not operate as in the Porsches, so the charger you suggested to me will not operate right?
Yes you are correct. You will want to use a trickle battery charger which charges a AGM GEL battery for the R8.You can check the manufacturer website one here: www.ctek.com/si/en/chargers/12vYou will want the CTEK 3300use the CTEK 3300 and shut the hood over the wires (it doesn't pinch them hard if the wires lay flat) You can get the 3300 herehttp://www.amazon.com/Ctek-Battery-Charger-56158-56-158/dp/B000FQBWCYHere is a youtube video explaininghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AC1RfapFaoor herehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHSI_qHOI4UAll high performance cars use the charger made by CTEK. it just says Audi on ot.
