Today I had my Audi A4 2T Quattro washed via an automatic brushless car wash and after parking it for about a half an hour, I moved it and saw green anti-freeze coolant under the front end of the car, but then also saw some coolant under the right rear tire?? This is a brand new leak as of today. Any ideas what it could be? I am taking it in tomorrow for an oil change, tire rotation and to purchase a new battery but am concerned about this leak. The car has 78,000 miles and is a 2006
Welcome to Just Answer!!The coolant in our vehicles is pink in color are you sure you have a coolant leak because Audi coolant is not this color at all .Please dont forget to click accept for my time and knowledge thank you
Okay great so it appears the wrong coolant was put in my car- Nice! In reading online, apparently G12 Audi Coolant should be used, which is pink, so now I need to have the coolant system flushed, correct? Could the wrong coolant cause big problems. The last time I had anything done to the vehicle (besides standard oil changes) was the 50,000 mile check up in 2009, 3 years ago and I suspect that this company put the wrong coolant in the car. I did not go to the dealership because they wanted a fortune for this check up. What about the leak of green fluid near the back right (passengers) tire?? Thank you-Mary
Are you positive there coolant leaking in the rear wheel area and not coming from the front ??and yes you will need a coolant flush
Yes there was green fluid where the rear right tire was when I pulled the car out of my garage. Under the right rear tire and then also under the front end. Is there another fluid in the car that is green? I really don't even know if it was coolant fluid after reading your answers. If it is the wrong coolant could that cause big problems with the radiator and other things since its been in there for 3 years?
More then likely the radiator is leaking the coolant it could be caused by the wrong coolant because it may of broke down a seal and cause it to leak , the leak in the rear should not be coolant , you will need to raise the vehicle and double check this . It may be rear diff fluid it could look green but its more clear then anything else only way to know for sure is raise the vehicle and check . I hope all this has helped.PLEASE DONT FORGET TO CLICK ACCEPT FOR MY TIME AND KNOWLEDGE THANK YOU
I just checked the coolant resevoir and the coolant is in fact pink! So that is great. Could the green be brake fluid? I understand standard brake fluid is amber to clear but super blue ATE DOT 4 when mixed with standard can make it a green color. This fluid is definitely green. If it is break fluid would that explain possibly why it was near the back right tire?
Brake fluid is more yellow clear but you may have a brake fluid leak this will explain the wheel area check the brake lines , bleeder screw on the caliper but more then likely it is brake fluid once again raising the vehicle would be the best way to know where the leak is at just make sure the brake reservoir is full if you decide to drive the vehicle . i hope this helps. Please dont forget to click accept for my time and knowledge thank you !
