I am having a problem with the stereo in my 2001 Audi A6. There is a high pitched hum that comes from all the rear speakers when the car is running and the stereo system is turned on. I can have the stereo play with no problem when the engine isnt running, but as soon as it is turning overn, the hummin comes back. can you help me out?

Hello1st thing to check is that the stereo connections on the back of the unit are pushed fully home, especially the aerial one as a poor connection will produce feedback as you describealso check that the main engine / gearbox earth strap is tightly connected and that the main battery connections are on tightIf all of this is OK and the humming noise increases in pitch with engine rpm then its likely that the noise suppressor is broken on the back of the alternator
