There has been a service bulletin for that type of concern. Here is what it states.

Engine -Turbocharger Recirculation Valve/DTC P0299 Set

01 MIL on (P0299 - charge pressure control negative deviation)

21 08 05 XXXXXXX/X December 22, 2008. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 21 number 08-01 datedJanuary 28, 2008 for reasons listed below.

MIL on. DTC P0299 (Charge pressure control, negative deviation) is stored in the ECM data memory.

 

 

Technical Background

The condition may be the result of an abnormal Turbocharger Recirculation Valve N249.

Production Solution

 

Improved production.

Service

1. Remove the Turbocharger Recirculation Valve from the Turbocharger Housing and visually inspect the rubber membrane for lacerations.

2. If the membrane is lacerated (Figure 1) replace the Turbocharger Recirculation Valve N249.
