2002 Audi A6 quattro: AUTOMATIC..the brake pedal..brake light switch

Have a 2002 Audi A6 quattro w/ 3.0. THE AUTOMATIC SHIFT LIGHT (ASL) will not go off when the brake pedal is depressed. have installed a new O.E. brake light switch, still no good. I am unable to get the car out of park or nuetral when car is running/ ignition switch ON. please advise!

The rear brake lights works ?
Check if with the ignition on, in the plug of the brake ligth switch is there voltage on pins 1 and 3. If not chech the fuses 7 and 13. If you have 12 V strap the pin 2 with 3 and 1 with 4 ans see if the problem is gone. If so, the switch is defective or incorectlly mounted.
