Hi and thanks for choosing us. My name is ***** ***** I'd like to see if I can help.
I have been going through every list and database I have access to and I cannot find an artist with that exact signature. I've checked artist lists, auction records, etc..Really, that's not entirely uncommon. Out of the thousands of artists dating back centuries, very few have even really been recorded. You have artists that are hobbyists, students, and even professionals that just never get in the right market to have their names recorded..It doesn't look like factory or decor art. It looks to be a late 19th century piece, but, unfortunately, it's most likely an unknown artist. The style is great....I just can't find a match to the name of the artist..That doesn't mean it can't be valued. If you'd like, I can analyze and place a value based on the likely age, style, etc. This is similar to what would be done in a gallery with any "unknown" or "lesser-known" artist. I'll be more than happy to do that..I can understand if you'd rather have it evaluated in person. That way the appraiser can inspect the technique, the paper, the quality etc..... far better than I can do online through a picture on a computer screen..For that, some of the best organizations are:.http://www.artdealers.org/appraisals.html.http://www.isa-appraisers.org/.http://www.appraisers.org/.http://www.appraisersassoc.org/.http://www.pada.net/services/services.php.For authentication, you may also try:http://headleyfineart.com/services.html.or.SIGNET ARTDallas, TX 75201E-mail:***@******.***or.http://www.vanweyenbergh.com/Artauthentication.htm.or.www.freemanart.ca/.But...if you'd like, I could place a possible value based on the style and comparing it to similar work. It would be a very very rough ballpark, but I would be happy to do it..~Diana
