Have you noticed any other symptoms prior to this?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
This has been going on for a couple of days, but I originally thought it was because door was not properly closed but that is not the case.

Have you noticed anything odd about the display or the dispenser - any unusual activity?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Nothing else seems to be out of order
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

What about the fan under the refrigerator by the compressor. Can you tell if that is running?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I can't tell for sure, but I don't hear anything running

If you fees the edges of the refrigerator where the refrigerator door gasket meets the refrigerator, is it hot?

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

If you feel the edges of the refrigerator where the refrigerator door gasket meets the refrigerator, is it hot?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
No. The refrigerator is working fine--it's just the bottom freezer
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

The refrigerator can work fine but the frame where the refrigerator gasket meets the refrigerator can still be hot. Can you check that?

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

That would be an indicator of an issue.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Where the frame meets the gasket feels cool
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

If it feels cool then you likely are low on freon.

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

This is true if your freezer does not have a build up of frost on the wall behind the food inside of the freezer.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Can I add that or do I have to call for service for a technician to do so.
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

That is not something that a consumer can do since there is no valve to do it with. The technician needs to install a valve.

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

Is there anything else I can answer for you?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
What would cause the Freon to be low--a leak somewhere
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

Yes, but it is likely a slow leak. Recharging is viable if it is not a big leak.

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

A technician will be able to determine that when they look at it.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
What exactly does recharging mean--? adding Freon by technician
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

Yes.

Does Maytag have a list of technician in the Panama City Beach, FL area or do I need to find my own
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

Would you like for me to find one for you?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I will just check with the store where I purchased to see if they have recommendations. thank you
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 6 months ago.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
The expert was responsive. I will only know if he is correct once I have to spend the money for a technician to see if indeed a low Freon level is the problem
