I tried to run my maxima washer with the water turned off.

Customer Question

I tried to run my maxima washer with the water turned off. now there are no lights on the control pannel, the door is locked and makes a growling sound like a pump is running. i've unplugged it and no reset.
JA: What's the make and model of your washing machine? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: maxima MCT direct drive...maybe 5 years old.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: hopefully if I can
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: no, just how to get it reset and maybe with the water now on it will work.

Please look inside the door for the model number.

unable, part of the problem. the only light when plugged in is a flashing lock light. plugged or unplugged the door will not open. it makes a growling noise plugged in.
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
when plugged in, there is a pump running, no control lights, nothing happens when any buttons pushed, only a flashing lock light and the door will not open.

Ok give me a moment please.

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
also, I left it unplugged for over 30 minutes hopping for a reset.

Pull the washer forward and remove the screws from the back of the top panel. The top panel will then pull straight back, up, and off. There is a plastic tab hanging from the bottom of the latch assembly.

ok, it is going to be very difficult to get it pulled out, it is semi "built in". but first, there is no 'top panel', it has a flat top with all controls on the upper front just above the door. Will this change things before I try to get it out?
Expert:  Jamie_2013 replied 3 months ago.

That is the top panel =)

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
ok.....
Expert:  Jamie_2013 replied 3 months ago.

Let me know after you get this done.

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
ok....top off, found the door latch and can open it. I plugged the machine in and no other changes.
Expert:  Jamie_2013 replied 3 months ago.

Okay you will have to replace the control to fix this.
