Is it able to be programmed for a higher temperature but just won't get above 285*?

Is the lower element getting hot within 5 minutes of starting a bake cycle?

Thank you. The lower element is likely not working. I believe the heat you are feeling is from the top element. I suspect the lower element will need to be replaced. The video at the link below shows how it is accessed for inspection and replacement.
