Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I will be helping you. Please give me a moment to review your question.
Can you give me the full model number (inside the microwave) and symptom?
Ok, so it acts like it is running, but isn't?
The timer is counting down but you can't hear it running?
Ok, you have a bad door switch.
Is this something you want to replace yourself?
Yes, in most cases. You need to take off the upper vent to expose the screws for the control panel.
Remove the control panel and test the switches. The bad one will likely have burned looking connectors and the button distorted.
Depending on the switch, it may be part number
Although they are likely interchangeable.
I believe your control board is ok.
Remove the top vent to expose the control panel screw and take that off. You can then see the switches.
Is there anything else I can help you with?
I will see if there is one, but very unlikely to be one for your exact model.
I think the board is ok. I would not replace the board.
This is the closest video I was able to find.
Is there anything else I can answer for you?
Yes. I replied. I would not replace the board.
Yes. it is a safety switch. Whenever the microwave counts down and does not run, it is always a bad switch.
The board relay works, but the door switch will not let the microwave cook because it thinks the door is still open.
Does that make sense?

If the microwave is mounted properly, there should be some screws on top of the microwave that you unscrew to get the top vent off. Once you take off the top vent, you should see a screw at the top of the control panel. Take that off to expose the switches.
Once you get the top screw off of the panel, push the panel up and pull forward.
The screws to take off the top vent are on top of the microwave about an inch from the front.
There are no screws on top of the microwave?
The microwave should be sticking out at least an inch or an inch and a half. If not, it is improperly mounted.
And you will need to use an alternate method.
Yes that is it. Remove them and you should be able to remove the top vent.
There is a schematic inside behind the control panel.
If the top screws are not visible then the microwave is improperly installed. You will need to take it down. I will opt out so that other experts can help.
