JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Maytag is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: MLG2000AWW 2004
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes if it's just the switch
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: no

  1. Does it wash okay, juts not spin fast?
  2. Is it pumping out the water?
Customer: replied 28 days ago.
It washes fine. pumps out most of water, spin never gets fast enough to remove water from clothes. FYI - its a stacked W/D

Are you able to get to the top of the dryer to inspect the washer machine control for a burn spot?

Customer: replied 28 days ago.
Are you asking me to remove dryer from washer to inspect?
Expert:  Kelly replied 28 days ago.

No, just the top access panel of the dryer, the board is mounted in the front corner.

Customer: replied 28 days ago.
I can get easy access to anywhere but back, and right side
Expert:  Kelly replied 28 days ago.

Okay, so you should be able to remove the top.

Customer: replied 28 days ago.
panel is off. (the on between W & D)
Customer: replied 28 days ago.
did I loose you?
Expert:  Kelly replied 28 days ago.

The one on the very top of the dryer is the one you need to remove.

Customer: replied 28 days ago.
There's no panel on the top of my dryer

One more....

Customer: replied 28 days ago.
removed two hex screws. panel comes forward but won't disconnect at bottom. trying to lift and pull, but feels like i'll break it
Expert:  Kelly replied 28 days ago.

There are screws at the bottom too but you really only need to remove the top panel to inspect the board.

Customer: replied 28 days ago.
I'm not understanding something. Don't see anyway to get top panel off with out removing front
Expert:  Kelly replied 28 days ago.

GO ahead and remove the front panel of the dryer. That will require more work but will probably be easier.

Customer: replied 28 days ago.
OK. But, can't see where the bottom screws are
Expert:  Kelly replied 28 days ago.

See attached pages.

Customer: replied 27 days ago.
ok. dryer door is off
Expert:  Kelly replied 27 days ago.

Okay, once yuo get access to that board, look for an small burn area in the middle of it on the side of the components.

Customer: replied 27 days ago.
am i taking control panel out. or just looking for burn sp
Customer: replied 27 days ago.
spot
Expert:  Kelly replied 27 days ago.

You will need to access the main board above the dryer drum to inspect the washing machine control board.

Customer: replied 27 days ago.
looks clean as a whistle
Expert:  Kelly replied 27 days ago.

You are looking at the main board above the dryer drum, at the very top of the machine, not the one down by the timer stuff, right?

Customer: replied 27 days ago.
see pix
Expert:  Kelly replied 27 days ago.

I will see if another may be available for some in depth testing. You likely have one of the balance switches that has failed or a door lock.

Customer: replied 27 days ago.
where are the balance switches located
Customer: replied 27 days ago.
also, can top part go back together?
Customer: replied 27 days ago.
