Ok if you have replaced the fan motor and it is still doing the same thing !! we will assume it is not the fan itself.

Do you have a Volt-Ohm meter and know how to use it ?

To be able to test for voltage to the fan when it stops running?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I REPLACED WITH NEW FAN MOTOR AND IT TURNS ON FOR A SECOND OR SO AND THEN TURNS OFF

Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

I did not send you the phone request that was the Site prompt.

Do you have a meter to be able to test voltage to the fan motor?

Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

we need to be able to say that the reason it is turning off is because it no longer has voltage going to it.

I`m about 80% sure what the issue is but would like to be 100% sure first.

Ok-- what makes it shut off
Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

The main control board is what gives power to the icemaker fan .

if it is loosing voltage to the fan then it is a issue with the electronic control board.

and it will need to be replaced.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
THERE ARE 2 BOARDS WHICH ONE IS IT
Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

it is the main control board in the rear exterior of the unit.

Here is a link to Sears they show they have it in stock at a very good price.

GOT IT----IS THIS A NORMAL ISSUE
Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

when it comes to electronic controls there is nothing normal!!

The electronic control can be damaged from almost anything from power surges to voltage brown outs, Radio interference. Even static electricity,

But to more or less answer your question. electronic controls fail all the time no matter which appliance or manufacture they are in .

Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

And the price that sears is ((showing )) may be wrong ,I say that because I see two other places have it for almost $300

Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

FRIDGE MOD# ***** STILL NOT MAKING ICE---IVE REPLACED ICE MAKER WATER VALVE CNTRL CE MAKER FAN MOTOR AND NO ICE
Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

Thank you!

So you replaced the main control board in the rear and the fan is STILL going on /off is that correct?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I've been having a problem with this type of refrigerator ice maker for sometime
Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

Ok right now I`m not concerned about the icemaker Lets concentrate on the fan motor going on /off if the icemaker is not getting cold air blown on it then it will not cycle to dump the ice.

And now you have replaced the fan motor and the control board that feeds voltage to the icemaker.

We really need a Volt-Ohm meter to be able to test for correct voltage to the icemaker fan motor.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Ok we're do I check
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
But this is like the 4th refrigerator with the same problem
Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

ok have you contacted Whirlpool to see if they have any known issues?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I thought you might know- besides they'll want to send someone out
Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

I `m retired from The Whirlpool Tech Line just has breakfast last Saturday with a couple of guys and this was not something that was discussed .

The biggest thing is to see if the voltage is truly dropping out at the fan motor or if it is dropping out from the control board.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Ok- how do I check
Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

test the motor harness connection for voltage and when the fan drops out see if the motor is still getting voltage or not.

If it is not then go to the main control and test the fan circuit for voltage out of the control board there.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Is there a diagnostic to jump start ice maker
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Or to check all components are fictional
Expert:  Whrlp Master Tech replied 7 months ago.

The units tech sheet should be in the kick plate under the unit.

This is a standard SEGAR style icemaker ,to manually advance the icemaker you will need to jump T to H (thermostat to Heater) to get the unit to start a cycle to dump the ice and to refill with water.
