Customer Question

I have a Whirlpool Duet with an F6 trouble code. What is an F6 trouble code ?
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Whirlpool is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: Approximately 2005 Duet front load
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes if possible
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: ran the washer normally, it stopped and showed the trouble code. I read what little it had to say in the manual, and proceeded to reset and try again with no luck. It also stated that any F variable (other than a F2 or FH) I should call in for service !

Your motor control is not detecting the motor turning.

Are you still there ?

You'll need to check the continuity of the wires between the motor and MCU

And make sure the drum turns smoothly.

Expert:  Eng-Tech replied 1 month ago.

The most likely problem is a broken wire between the motor and the MCU. If the motor turns smoothly and there are no other visible signs of issues with the motor, and the wires from the MCU to the motor are ok, then the MCU is suspect.

This issue is somewhat advanced. If you have experience using a multimeter and are quite handy, you may be able to address this issue. Otherwise, I would recommend that for this problem, a qualified technician run some tests on this machine to get an accurate diagnosis.

You will also want to check the motor continuity and the sensor before replacing the MCU. I will opt out and open this up to other experts for additional input.
