I am attempting to install a maytag dishwasher, model

Customer Question

I am attempting to install a maytag dishwasher, model mdb49498de.installation instructions
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Maytag is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: maytag dishwasher model mdb49498de. everything went fine until the connect water step. this involves connecting a female hose to a male hose coupling. I thought I got it on squarly, but it leaks. removed, reseated rubbeer washer, tried again, still leaks.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes I am in the final stages
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: machine is new

Is it leaking at the hose side of the fitting side, can you tell?

Expert:  Kelly replied 8 months ago.

Are you using an adapter like the one below?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
exactly - it looks like it leaks around the male threads and the joint between the female connector and the compression fitting that leads to the elbow

You may need a new fitting. No cracks on the plastic valve threads?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
not that I can see
Expert:  Kelly replied 8 months ago.

Did that fitting come with the dishwasher? Is it tight when it is screwed onto the valve?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
it was part of an installation kit that came with the dishwasher. it is as tight as I dare make it, and does not wiggle when screwed onto the valve.
Expert:  Kelly replied 8 months ago.

If the plastic valve looks okay, the fitting is probably faulty. If it came with the dishwasher, it is under warranty. However, if it is an installation issue they will charge a service call. Would you like a link to a new fitting?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
please. by any chance does the input valve come in brass, rather than a pos plastic hose fitting?
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
be back in 10 minutes
Expert:  Kelly replied 8 months ago.

No, the valve itself is plastic, I will send you links to both.

The valve and adapter are available below.
