The control for drying stays on and dryer gets hot and

Customer Question

The control for drying stays on and dryer gets hot and doesn't shut off during cycle..
JA: Have you tried power cycling the appliance -- unplugging it and leaving it off for a few hours?
Customer: no I've never tried that and could not find any solutions in my booklet concerning my problem.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes I've done most repairs on the dryer like replacing the drum rollers and I do vac it out annually as far as keeping vent clear and inside the dryer itself.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: I've never got into that part of dryer that controls the heat selection and local parts supplier said to make sure vent was clear which I did. Could it be a thermocouple or whatever tells the gas to shut off when it reaches a certain temp.

your thermostats (2) could be the problem or thermal fuses. Do you have a multimeter to be able to check if they have continuity.
