My knobs on a GE gas stove are turning. I only have one I can barely turn. It is 13 years old. Should I replace the stove or fix it?
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your GE is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: It's 13 years old. Not sure of exact model but is a gas stove
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: No
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?

No oil?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I don't want to fix it myself. I just want to know if it is best to repair or replace
Expert:  Kelly replied 9 months ago.

If only the knobs are stiff, it is probably easily repaired simply by lubricating the knob shafts. This is pretty common. If the oven works fine and the range is in good shape, I would have it repaired.

It's only a stovetop and I have tried oil on the other 2 when they went out
Expert:  Kelly replied 9 months ago.

Okay, and that did not help?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
No it didnt
Expert:  Kelly replied 9 months ago.

Okay, in that case, you will likely need new valves, in which case I would replace the cook top.
