Customer Question

my GE monogram refrigerator is not working. The freezer is about 29 degrees and the compressor on top is overheating. I need someone to come fix this.
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your GE is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: I have a monogram ZIS 48D technical data sheet with a wiring diagram.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: I would prefer to have someone else fix it.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: are you still there?
JA: No. I'm the Appliance Technician's Assistant.
Customer: hello
JA: Hi. What do you want help with?
Customer: I thought you were researching my refrigerator.

  • Is the fan by the compressor running?
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
no. the fan is off
Expert:  Kelly replied 7 months ago.

That is why it is overheating and it needs to be corrected quickly or the heat is going to cause damage to the compressor. Do you have a small fan you can place to blow up there?

Expert:  Kelly replied 7 months ago.

Also, if you manually spin the fan blade, does it try to run by itself?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I manually spun the fan and is working but makes noise.
Expert:  Kelly replied 7 months ago.

Excellent! So would you like to replace that fan yourself? It would save you about $200 or more rather than calling for service!

Expert:  Kelly replied 7 months ago.

The motor just unplugs and plugs in and is pretty easy to replace!

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I would rather have someone come out and fix it.
Expert:  Kelly replied 7 months ago.

I totally understand. If you provide your zip code, I can get you a servicer referral.
