Kenmore refrigerator not cooling. Freezer works fine!

Customer Question

I left the fridge door open for 2 days and now the fridge won't go back to cooling. The freezer is working fine.

Do u see any ice or frost build up inside the freezer rear panel? Also, can I get the model number as this fridge may have what's called a damper control.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Ice/frost build up on rear panel on freezer is negligible. There is a thin line of frost about 3rd of the way up from base of unit in line with the ice tray. Ice maker is also working fine. She's kicking out ice, no problem. I pull plug to see if a restart would help, but no luck.
It's Kenmore 795.78099.901.

This fridge gas a fan motor in the fresh food side as well there is a vent inside towards the back hold in the door switch for about 10 seconds to see if it blows air from the vents

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Hold door switch? Where is that?
Expert:  Ezekiel replied 7 months ago.

By the light assembly or to the sides

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
The one that is activated when you close the door?
Expert:  Ezekiel replied 7 months ago.

yes

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Did it. No result/change/effect.

Checking for damper

Expert:  Ezekiel replied 7 months ago.

The damper sits behind that vent towards the back in the center of the fridge. That plastic cover comes off then you will see a vent it should be opened. If that vent is closed you have a bad damper assembly and it will need to be replaced.

You want me to PRY that plastic cover off? The cover on the back wall of fridge? The one with the grey plastic piece that says multi air flow?
Expert:  Ezekiel replied 7 months ago.

yes

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
PRY is off and then what?
Expert:  Ezekiel replied 7 months ago.

There should be a plastic square door. Open it towards you a little.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
There is nothing behind that door.....it's decorative...
Expert:  Ezekiel replied 7 months ago.

The only thing that it can be based on the freezer being okay is the refrigerator fan motor going out.

Leaving the door open would have allowed the air ducts to freeze up. Open the doors and unplug the refrigerator for 24 hours to thaw and it should start cooling fine once plugged back in.
