I have a Whirlpool duet gas dryer and the drum is very hot

Customer Question

I have a Whirlpool duet gas dryer and the drum is very hot to the touch and the clothes are almost too hot to handle after cycle. What is the problem? I don't want to use it if there is a danger of fire or ruining the dryer.

Do you have a model number so I can better assist you?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I keep forgetting to look for the model number. Just wanted to know if the dryer seems unusually hot should I continue to use it if I turn the heat temperature to medium. Thanks for getting back to me however I am having an appliance repair come Monday AM.

I would probably not use the dryer until the issue is fixed in case the valve is sticking open which could cause more problems than just hot clothing if that happens to be your issue. Most likely it's just a clogged vent or a bad thermostat however.
