My cusinart mixer sm-55 is not working properly, it kneads

Customer Question

My cusinart mixer sm-55 is not working properly, it kneads the dough at first (low speed at 2) but once the dough is formed the hook couldn't turn any more. It seems that it still tries to turn but the resistance is too high for it to turn.

If the motor is humming but cannot turn, the motor is failing and will need to be replaced.

The motor does turn

Your initial post stated, "it first turn to form a dough but then couldn't turn any more." So it does turn when it starts to labor and bog down or it will not turn under a load?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The hook does not turn once the dough was formed but the motor does turn.

There must be an issue in the gearing then that is failing under a load.

Any idea how to find the failing part? I tried to open it but didn't succeed.

That model is not really serviceable, they don't even sell replacement parts for repair, only the bowl and attachment stuff. See the link below.
