GE Profile gas range: Oven Self cleaning feature never

Customer Question

GE Profile gas range: Oven Self cleaning feature never worked well. Looked at flame on the oven bake assembly and the flame is smaller than shown in the manual. Can the brass nozzle
be adjusted to increase flame size?

The bass nozzle is not adjustable. It really has nothing to do with how large the flame is. If the oven can reach and hold 425 degrees and the flame turns on and off like normal, then your burner is working fine. Newer ovens just don't clean well unfortunately, that's a fact of life. The door especially won't clean well because there are new regulations which require the door to remain at a lower temperature the entire time so that if children come up and touch it they don't get burnt. Around the front frame of the oven usually won't clean well either since it's near the door which remains cooler. Self cleaning ovens have changed over time to make sure they meet energy star standards and other regulations, but these adversely affect the cleaning ability.
