First set the dryer for no heat or fluff and set timer on a timed only cycle - say 15 or 20 minutes and start it . Does it count down and shut off that way ? DO NOT use an automatic cycle - timed cycle only

No, I tried just a timed cycle and it did not count down. Dryer is drying good, but the timer is not going off or counting down
