If the unit is filling and emptying then the base is flooded. Pull the unit out and tilt it back 45 degree to drain away all the water in the base.

I have already checked this and the base is not flooded. This dishwasher has only a cardboard base which will not hold water.

Then the level switch is faulty and needs replaced as it is not working properly to shut the water off and back on when needed.

I thought it might be the programme module.

Yes it could be but I would go with the level switch first as it is least expensive.

I will get a new level switch and get back to you and let you know if it sorts the problem.
