i haved a GB9FHDXWSO4, S# ***** whirlpool unit -i have a design 1 temperature control. question #1 does this unit have a defrost timer. question#2 unit stops running. check controller both freezer and refrigerator shows ( - ). both setting were on 4. watched freezer number drops and both sides go to ( - ). wait 1 hour unit still off and inside temp at 50 degrees.reset manually unit runs. what do you recommend.

That unit does not have a defrost timer and the control is the whole thing on that unit, when the - appears in the display the controller is bad. Here is a link to a new one, it comes with instructions and is easy to install...CLICK HERE
