Customer Question

Hello Tom - similar issue. GE Monogram, not cleaning dishes.
Upon finishing a load there is a layer of 'scum' at the door joint.

What happened there - I was on with Tom?

Hello is the unit just not cleaning at all or properly?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It is not really cleaning at all at this stage.
It seems to give the dishes on the bottom shelf a good 'rinse' but does not remove any sticky debris from plates or cutlery.
The upper shelf items (cups, mugs etc.) are getting a very light rinse at best.

OK is there unit filling with water and is the main motor running? If so can you see if the wash arm position changes?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
filling with water.
Main motor seems to be running.
Wash arms - if you mean the spinning things, all seem to function.

OK have you taken it apart and cleaned out all the filters?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
In a rental so not sure what comes out and what does not.
Can you advise?
Expert:  Appliance Guru replied 1 year ago.

For sure CLICK HERE and watch that video! It is likely gunked up and the cause of the bad cleaning, happens all the time. Further make sure the water temp is at least 130 degrees to the unit as that will also cause cleaning issues.

There was little or nothing in that filter to clean out. Is there another place I should be looking? I have the machine running right now to test it out. Definitely water in there and it sounds as it always did.

CHeck the sump grate that is harder to get to and see but you need to check that as they often get blocked with food.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Sump gate?
Expert:  Appliance Guru replied 1 year ago.

The sump grate, there is a grate where the pump motor connects to the sump..you need to check that.
