Our front load washing machines red lock light is on but door will open. Everything is lit up like usual but you can't start a cycle

You may have just locked the control panel. Hold down the delay start for 3 secs and the lock symbol should go away and allow the washer to be used.

We did that and it doesn't unlock, but the door opens and closes

IF you cannot enter service mode then the control has failed and will need to be replaced.
