I installed a new belt on my GE dryer, and it is slipping.

Customer Question

I installed a new belt on my GE dryer, and it is slipping. There is a little periodic squeak under load. But with the top off the dryer. I notice that the belt is slipping with no load.

Are you sure you have the right belt for the dryer? WHat is the model and the part number of the belt you have installed?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I found that the front drum bearing was shot. It was missing 2 of the 4 rests, both on one side. There was wear on the plastic frame. I ordered parts, and they will be in tomorrow. I don't understand why the dryer didn't squeak before the belt went bad.
