Have a ge gfdn240 gas dryer. I was doing a load of towels

Customer Question

Kelly, have a ge gfdn240 gas dryer. I was doing a load of towels earlier today and smelled gas; now it won't start. It powers on, but when I hit start it says "drying" and it appears the timer is working, but it is not spinning or heating. Any ideas?

Thanks for counting on us to help with your appliance problem. My name is ***** ***** I look forward to helping you! I suspect you either have an open thermal fuse or the belt switch has broken. Does the tub spin very easily with hardly any resistance or does it seem to have a bit of resistance with the belt in place?
